The Augusta Chronicle and Augusta Magazine will host the second annual Augusta Table Tennis Classic on Saturday, March 18th, 2017. The event will take place at Legends Club and will feature a table tennis tournament, dinner, dancing and a silent auction.
The Augusta Chronicle and Augusta Magazine are partnering with Golden Harvest Food Bank to host this charity event. Golden Harvest explains that their “tagline ‘Feeding Lives Together’ speaks to the heart of the mission of this event. The problem of hunger is too large for one organization or group to tackle by itself. Only when the community comes together to support the most vulnerable will the needs of the hungry be satisfied.” All proceeds from the event will benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank.
“Table tennis has been a big part of the Augusta Community since the late 1970’s, from hosting national tournaments to winning college national titles,” said Pete May, Vice President of Administrative Services for Morris Communications Corporation, LLC. “It’s also one of the largest recreational sports in the world. We are reaching out to the recreational players in our community and giving them a platform to be entertained while competing in a wonderful event.”
Players are encouraged to dress in costume and bring an entourage to cheer them on in their best semi-formal wear. This is an amateur event. To participate, players may not be a current member of the USATT and/or ever had a USATT rating higher than 1699.
The tournament begins at 4 p.m., followed by the party and tournament playoff at 6:30 p.m.
