The Augusta Chorale was founded by local music enthusiasts In 1983. Under the leadership of its first music director, Mr. Charles W. Francis, the Chorale began "using every opportunity to bring about awareness of hymns, anthems, spirituals, and the classics." Mr. Ellis Johnson, the Chorale's, second director, continued to build the group's reputation over the twenty of his service. Dr. Anderson, the 3rd director, has led the group in performing Handel's, Messiah, Faure's Requiem, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Schubert's Mass in G with orchestra.
